In the absence of the educator (teacher or paraprofessional), the Permanent Building Substitute is responsible for providing instruction, managing the classroom environment, and promoting student learning in the absence of the regular classroom educator. The Permanent Building Substitute is assigned to a single school building for the duration of a school year, and will report to that school each day to cover assignments, as scheduled by the building administrator(s). This will include covering for absent educators, but may also involve covering preparation periods or staying with a class while the educator attends a meeting, or in-service training. The Permanent Building Substitute may also perform various duties of a routine clerical nature, if assigned.

The Permanent Substitute position is a full-time position and eligible for benefits.  School Instructional Hours: 7:30 am-1:53 pm (staff stays until 2:10 pm)

Public School employees of Massachusetts are required to submit their fingerprints to a National Criminal Database check. The check will require you to pay a fee of $55 if you hold an Educator’s License, or $35 if you are an unlicensed employee. In addition to the national background check, a satifsfactory Massachusetts Criminal Record Check (CORI) is required.
